Sables Verts “Les Poyeux” Saumur Champigny 2023

“LES POYEUX”
At first smell this can only be Cabernet Franc and it can only be French.  Sourced from the “Les Poyeux” vineyard, made famous by the insanely priced Clos Rougeard, the $40 price tag is looking like a major bargain. Green pepper corns, dried violets, figs, tomato leaf, blackberries and blueberries. The light mid-palate and the red fruit acidity is lightly grippy, with a wet soil characteristic, showing why Cab Franc is King in the Loire.
