Wirra Wirra "Catapult" Shiraz McLaren Vale 2016

Australia has really been making an effort to make wines that are not as big and inky as they were 10 years ago. The Catapult Shiraz was picked over a period of 4 weeks to ensure even ripeness and then a small parcel of 2% Viognier was added to co-ferment. Haling from the McLaren Vale gives the vines a little altitude and keeps the acidity fresh to balance out the bold fruit. Notes of eucalyptus, cigar box, wet terra-cotta pots, with blackberries, mulberries and plums.
