Apriori was founded on the guiding principle that quality, authenticity and joy should be part of every wine experience. The winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in purity, balance and truth. The cornerstone is the belief in showcasing the seductive qualities of ordained grapes and extracting the distinctive personalities of their soils. The results are beautiful authentic wines that may be enjoyed in simplicity, with or without food, anytime and on any occasion.

Apriori is the fruit of a collaboration between Patrice Breton & Georges Sabongui, two very passionate, focused and driven vintners who have been friends since high school. Both Patrice & Georges enjoyed successful careers in the technology industry before dedicating their attention to the craft of wine. They also co-founded and operate Champlain Group LLC, a Private Equity firm specialized in the wine industry. Patrice directs all production operations of Apriori. He also owns and operates Vice Versa Wines, a high-end boutique winery based in Saint Helena, Napa Valley. Georges manages Apriori sales, marketing and administration. Patrice often speaks about his beliefs in balance, purity and truth, and his mission to elevate terroir through balance. He is extremely passionate about his ideals which include authenticity, uncompromising dedication to quality, attention to detail and extreme declassification.

To achieve the highest possible quality, there can be no compromises, only total focus and devotion. Patrice & Georges enlisted the help of winemaker Shawn Johnson to be the 'hands on deck.' He has made a name for himself in the Napa wine industry by working under the tutelage of Mark Herold at Merus, Kobalt, and The Vineyardist; Rob Lawson of Pavi, Mirror, and Fisticuffs, and more recently at Poe and Vanishing Point.

Legendary winemaker Philippe Melka joined the production team as a consultant in Fall 2015. Philippe is well known throughout the world, having worked for such esteemed estates as Château Pétrus, Château Haut-Brion, Bryant Family and Dominus Estate.
