Wilson Foreigner Rancho Chimiles Vineyard Valdiguie Napa Valley 2017

Validiguié was popular in Napa in the 1960s and 70s when the wines were labeled “Napa Gamay,” but there’s not much left now. This comes from a small leftover vineyard in the heart of the valley. The style is all about fresh fruitiness, with some whole-cluster fermentation. It’s pale in color, with bright aromas of strawberry, red cherry, rose petals, anise, and dried herbs, while the light-bodied palate is gently gripping and grainy.
