Grape popular in Napa in the 1960s and 70s, since replanted to more pricey grapes (Cabernet!). Second release from owners of “Rancho Chimiles” in Napa’s Wooden Valley. Concrete tank ferment, 30% whole cluster. 9 months in neutral French oak. Red/purple brilliant color. Smell & taste sour cherries, boysenberries, anise, earth, dried herbs. Medium tannins. Neither heavy nor light…just right. 146 cases made.
