Wilson Foreigner Del Barba Zinfandel Contra Costa County 2017

Del Barba is one of the few surviving old vineyards resisting urbanization in Contra Costa County. Still family owned and managed, the vines date back to 1910. This is a young, slighty different, quite serious, but very delicious Zinfandel. Aged for just 8 months in neutral oaks, it’s spicy, smoky, herbal, fruity, and floral, with concentrated aromas of red cherry and raspberry, roses, tarragon, and licorice. The palate is intense, with a good, grainy tannic grip, and a lingering finish.
