Phil Steinschreiber might know his way around “mountain fruit” from Napa, having made the wines for Diamond Creek Vineyards for 30 years. His understanding of what propels the grapes to top-tier quality is evident in his project from Mt. Veeder. Dark concentrated fruits are framed by mountain herbs, black cherries, blackberries and pencil shavings. Driven by herbs and earth with medium fruit extraction and beautiful chalky tannins.
