Waterfall Aglianico El Dorado 2013

Aglianico is the great grape of southern Italy, so it’s intriguing to see it planted in the similarly warm continental climate of El Dorado in the Sierra Foothills. Made by Helen Keplinger and aged in neutral oak for three years, this is a serious, tannic, dry, dusty, smoky wine with aromas of strawberry, plum, blackberry, black cherry, clove, nutmeg, fig, and prune. Very long finish drawing out the tannins. We like to think of this as a California/Italy crossover.
