Vinkara Okuzgozu Ankara 2014

Literally meaning “eye of the bull,” the grape is Ökügüzü, pronounced Oh-cooz-goe-zue, considered the most promising of Turkey’s indigeneous varieties – this is a great example of what Turkey is capable of. It’s a wine that’s deceptively full with an aromatic nose of strawberry, raspberry, plum, fig, roses, cloves, and black pepper that goes into a lighter, more acidic palate held together by grainy tannins. Perfect wine for meat-based Mediterranean dishes.
