62% Grenache, 21% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 6% Petite Sirah, and 1% Counoise. With fruit coming from Sonoma and Sierra Foothills, this is Helen Keplinger’s “second label” and the vivid Vermillion package is reflected in the wine with bright, ripe strawberries, raspberries, plums, blackberries, and black cherries, with a peppery, earthy smokiness and sweet spice, cinnamon notes. A great Californian expression of the Rhône.
