VENN by Young Inglewood Red Blend Napa Valley 2019

Most wines in this price are heavily extracted and heavily oaked, usually hiding touches of RS in the chewy frame, not Venn.  The blend of 40% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 11% Malbec reads like a true Bordeaux inspired blend. Restrained, with heavy herbs, dark plums and anise, a far cry from valley-floor fruit. A meaty quality is accompanied by raw chocolate, sweet tobacco and blackberries, characteristics which are often found in far pricier wines.
