In 1973 Tony Truchard, an Army doctor, purchased 20 acres of prune orchards in Carneros, which would become (thanks in part to Truchard) Napa’s prime real estate for Chardonnay. Classic California Chard here: buttered popcorn, baked apple, toast, lemony zing, smidge of hazelnut and vanilla. Medium body, great zip of acid. Intense flavor, finishes very dry.
