Trapl Carnuntum St-Laurent 2015

St-Laurent is one of Austria’s great black grapes that is probably some relation to Pinot Noir, although it has thicker skins and is later ripening. From Carnuntum, just south-east of Vienna, this is definitely Pinot-esque in its ripe, crunchy red fruit and floral rose aromas, plus licorice and all-spice. Very bright and fresh on the palate, this is a great introduction to the quality of Austrian red wine.
