From a hillside site – “Colle Maggio” – that has a perfect microclimate. Breezes coming in from the Adriatic, ideal sun exposure, and some elevation all come together to create an unusually sophisticated Montepulciano. A very attractive nose of ripe blackberry and cherry, violets, chocolate, and smoke, with gripping, chewy tannins, and high acidity. From 2013, this is a superb wine at this – or any – price.
