Tikves "Bela Voda" Macedonia 2015

Macedonia is one of the Balkan countries emerging from communism and war to produce quality, distinctive wines from local grape varieties – in this case, 50% Vranec (the name means “black stallion”) and 50% Plavec Mali (related to Zinfandel). It’s very pretty and attractive, with aromas of wild flowers, blackberries, blueberries, nutmeg, and licorice, with a fresh, juicy palate that’s held up by firm tannins. Tasty and a lot of fun.
