Savennières is one of the most highly regarded appellations in the Loire, producing serious, acidic, ageworthy wines from Chenin Blanc. This wine is made a stone’s throw from the village, so it falls under Vin de France rather than Savennières. Very similar in style and quality – nutty, waxy, with very high acidity. This wine isn’t about its fruitiness, but about texture and structure. Drink with seafood or hold for up to 10 years.
