Jacky Blot has been instrumental in taking Montlouis out of Vouvray’s shadow and a wine such as this one indicates why. It comes from 50-80-year-old Chenin Blanc vines, the wine fermented with native yeasts and aged in barrel (20% new). There’s a noticeable saline quality alongside the waxy, honeycomb texture, with some creamy richness coming from the oak as well as some light spice from lees contact, all lifted by fresh acidity and delicious stone fruit aromas.
