Quinta do Popa "Popa" Douro 2013

60% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinta Roriz, 10% field blend. For this price, there is a lot going on in this wine. It comes from the Douro, and is a great example of the fruit-forward but very balanced red wines coming from the region more known for port. The nose is floral and fruity, with aromas of rose petals, violets, red plum, blackberry, and black cherry, as well as spices and herbs, going into a palate with bright acidity and a grainy structure. A lot of fun.
