The IGP Comte Rhodaniens is confusing, basically covering the banks of the Rhone River in and around the areas northern Rhône and south of Beaujolais. Coming from a Beaujolais producer this is a lighter style, grown in sandy soils, whole bunch fermentation and 7 days in concrete before taking a nap in 500-liter French oak. Chocolate covered cherries, figs, kirsch, herbs and small amounts of vanilla and sweet tobacco. A perfect balance of acidity and tannins make this perfect for opening on a Wednesday.
