Podere Il Palazzino Vin Santo 2001

Vin Santo is the great sweet wine of Tuscany: the grapes are air-dried for several months before ageing in chestnut and oak barrels for five years. This has the extra advantage of being from 2001 so there’s a lot of mature complexity on top of the wine’s initial freshness. The nose leaps out of the glass with aromas of dried fruits, toffee, caramel, fudge, and Christmas cake, while the palate is rich and sweet but still balanced by acidity. Dessert in a glass.
