Pintia Toro 2012

Vega de Sicilia’s project in Toro just gets better and better. Far removed from the rustic wines Toro was once known for, this is a serious, sophisticated wine that has years ahead of it. 100% head-trained, mostly ungrafted Tempranillo, then aged in 75% new French barrique, the rest of it American. A beautiful, perfumed nose of strawberry, roses, pepper, and fig leading into a dusty palate that’s big and meaty without being too much so. Classic Spanish red.
