Onward Carignane “Hawkeye Ranch” Redwood Valley 2021

Carignan would be blended a whole lot less if they all tasted like this. The 80-year-old vines are organic and dry-farmed, producing a fuller richer style of the grape. Dark fruits, rather than red fruits shine, as the cassis, black cherry, plums and violets harmoniously blend into a softly textured palate. The wine gives off a creamy quality on the nose, which is confirmed in the mouth. Subtle acidity builds, just barely pushing through the plushness of the wine.
