Newfound Wines Carignan "Benchland" Redwood Valley 2019
The Benchland Carignane is sourced entirely from the Colombini Vineyard, a mid-century planting that was installed by Charlie Barra in 1942. The fruit spent a total of 32 days on the skins and was then barreled down to a combination of Austrian and French demi-muids and one clay amphora. Lightly floral with juicy plum, red cherry, underripe blackberry, and a Nebbiolo like tar characteristic. Old vine, cool-climate Carignan needs no further introduction.
