Montesalario Montecucco Rosso Riserva 2016

Montecucco is such an underrated region which is producing wines of equal quality to its much more famous neighbors, Brunello. Consisting of 90% Sangiovese and 10% other red grapes, the wine is in a perfect drinking window. The fruit is alive, but fading, opening the door for forest floor aromas, plums, mulberries and figs. Small amounts of leather and black fruits on the palate are light and soft with tannins that have aged to perfection in the bottle.
