Melville Pinot Noir "Terraces" Santa Rita Hills 2012
SKU
OOS-299_1
Hard-working vines grow in clay-rich loam and calcareous shale on terraced hillsides, exposed to strong winds. 2.5 tons/acre, tiny clusters are fermented 50% whole cluster. Aged entirely in neutral French oak. Last tasted February 2016...tightly wound and intense. Firm on the palate, showing griotte, red currant, balsa, black tea and tarragon smells and flavors. Slow evolution. One of the most age-worthy Cal Pinots we've tried. 557 cases made.
