The Germans drink more sparkling wine than anywhere else in the world. A lot of it isn’t that good but top producers make Sekt similar in quality to champagne but in a more aromatic style. Aged for 8 months on the lees and then topped up with high-quality Auslese from 2011, this serious bottle of bubbles is expressive of Riesling while also toasty and nutty with a gently creamy mouthfeel. The touch of sweetness on the palate (13.6g/L) is perfectly balanced by high acidity. Racy and mineral with a long finish.
