Mark Haisma Gevrey Chambertin 2016
Mark Haisma shows he has a pretty big set; as a winemaker from Australia who has set-up shop in Burgundy as a micronegociant and making wine in a rented space in Gevrey Chambertin. Using a combination of 2, 3, and 4 year barrels to produce flavors of red currant, Logan berry, strawberry and of course damp forest and savory leather. Smoky and gamey with black tea/bergamot, plums, and hints of orange citrus. Big structure, but drinkable now.
