Malk Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District 2014

South African native Brian Malk continues his family’s wine-producing tradition in Napa. He and his wife Nancy bought a small vineyard in Stags Leap in 1997 to make a tiny amount of Cabernet. The style is inspired by their late dog, Griffin, who was “bold and colorful.” That’s exactly what we get in this textured, finely balanced wine: warm black fruits mingled with dark chocolate, coffee, and cocoa, filled out by dry, gripping, grainy tannins and a long, mouthcoating finish.
