Madson Wines Kessler-Haak Vineyard Syrah Sta. Rita Hills 2022

Here’s another Santa Barbara area bottling from Cole Thomas, sourced from the Kessler-Haak vineyard in the Sea Rita Hills AVA. This shows more of the peppery side of the grape and less of the meaty side. Freshly cracked pepper, blueberries and an incense-like floral quality with the sandy loam soils provide lightness to the overall texture. A subtle greenness of herbs provides a solid frame for the grape’s typical darkness and depth.
