La Bastide Blanche Cuvee Fantaneou Bandol Rouge 2013

The “Cuvée Fontanéou” is a blend of 90% Mouvèdre and 10% Grenache from a 60 year old, 1.75 ha vineyard. The grapes are entirely destemmed to tame the tell-tale pepperiness of the Mouvèdre grape. This is a hardy, yet polished wine with tar, plum, blackberry, licorice, and herbs. The palate follows with similar flavors of earthy garrigue, cassis and a slight bit of chewyness.
