Kivelstadt Cellars Charbono Venturi Vineyard Mendocino 2017

In true Charbono form, this wine is an inky dark purple color, with notes of black plum, sage, and black currant.  The grape was one of the most widely planted reds in California in the late 1800's and early 1900's with these vines carrying an age of nearly 80 years. Blueberry, tar, licorice, and tons of mountains herbs are lightened up by a red fruit freshness and subtle acidity. Many Charbono are massive wines, but this is ready to drink today.
