Jolie Laide Gamay Noir "Barsotti Vineyard" El Dorado 2017

Gamay used to be widely planted in California, but was seen as an inferior grape. However, when it’s treated with care the wines can be glorious. The fruit comes from high-elevation El Dorado in the Sierra Foothills. The grapes start carbonic maceration before being trodden by foot and then going through whole-cluster fermentation. The result is a sophisticated wine, pretty and floral, with ripe rasberries and strawberries, followed by a grainy, textured palate.
