J.L. Chave Selection Silene Crozes-Hermitage 2018

Wines from the Northern Rhône are often times unmistakable for their varietal expression of Syrah and this wine has French Syrah in Aces.  Brooding and hedonistic with gamey/meaty qualities of smoke and leather.  This supports loads of ripe fruit with blueberry, boysenberry, and lilacs.  A chewy wine that manages to somehow be balanced with fruit, granite/limestone minerals, and meat flavors all stuffed into one bottle.
