Institut Agricole Regional Gamay Valle d’Aosta 2018
The tiny valley region of Valle d’Aosta is gaining in popularity in recent years and wines like these make you wonder where it has been this whole time. A darker, earthier, firmer version of Gamay than Beaujolais, displaying mountain herbs, a light palate weight, and generous tannins and acidity, likely the result of its 750 meter elevation near the Swiss border. A wine that does just fine without food, but turkey or pork would be a wonderful match.
