Idlewild “The Bird” Red Blend Mendocino 2020

48% Dolcetto, 44% Barbera, 4% Nebbiolo. This “house red” is an homage to the light, fresh, well-structured wines often drunk with food in Italy. Fermentation starts with carbonic maceration for fruitiness, then the grapes are trodden by foot for a regular fermentation leading to a savory backbone. Subtle, complex aromas of graphite, black cherries, dried herbs, and roses are finished with great acidity and firm tannins. Fun with a serious edge.
