Idlewild "The Bird" Red 2017
60% Dolcetto, 35% Barbera, 5% Nebbiolo. This “house red” is an homage to the light, fresh, food-friendly wines drunk in Italy. Fermentation starts with carbonic maceration for a smooth fruitiness, then the grapes are trodden by foot for a regular fermentation leading to a savory backbone. Subtle, complex aromas of wild strawberries, black cherries, dried herbs, and roses are finished with great acidity and firm tannins. Fun with a serious edge.
