Hyde & Sons Chardonnay Carneros 2014

Some of the region’s best Chardonnay comes from the series of vineyards in Carneros begun by Larry Hyde back in the 1970s. His sons are continuing the quality, as is evidenced in this richly balanced wine. A pretty floral nose of honeysuckle as well as cream, yogurt, and banana from the malolactic fermentation, with ripe peach, apricot, and passion fruit, while on the palate there’s some spice from oak, grainy tannins from the Wente clone, all held together by very fresh acidity.
