Nerello Masacalese from the volcanic/ashen slopes of Mount Etna, eastern Sicily. Brilliant red/ruby color. Smells of wild cherry, sweet cranberry, cassis, crushed Italian herbs and Oolong tea. Taste is a blend of wild berry/cherry, dry spices and wild herbs. No barrel, medium body, smack of acidity. Food matches: roast pork loin or shoulder, red sauces, lasagna.
