Giacomo Grimaldi "Sotto Castello di Novello" Barolo 2015

From a winery founded in 1930 but who only first released their first wine in 1996 – such is the attention to detail. The vineyard is Sotto Castello di Novello, located on the south-west tip of Barolo and of which the family own 3.3ha. The wine is aged in 50-60% new oak for 22-24 months for a rich, mouthfilling, densely textured feel, with aromas of violets, plum, blueberry, and licorice and an acidic, tannic structure which gives the wine years of ageing potential.
