Toscana IGT by Angelo Gaja. Bolgheri, Tuscany. 55% Merlot, 35% Syrah, 10% Sangiovese. Aged one year in once-used barrels. Has more brightness and nuance than most "Super Tuscans." (The Merlot, Sangiovese and no new oak explain this). Smell and taste raspberries, griottes (wild red cherry) pomegranate, red currants, black tea and black truffle. Medium bodied, uplifting acidity, fine tannins. Enjoy now through 2025 (at least).
