Mencia grape from cooler-climate northwest Spain, near Portugal. This is an excellent food wine, while not "needing" food to taste good. Blue and red berries, cracked black peppercorns, smoked/roasted chili peppers, fresh sweet figs and plums. Full flavored, medium bodied, medium acidity. Excellent value.
