Spain

Spain isn't a monolith and neither are its wines. Spaniards speak Castellian, Catalans, Basque, Galician and over nine other indigenous languages. It's also been under the influence of various cultures - like the Moorish Caliphates and House of Savoy. Join us as we explore the vast array of wines offered by the places that make Ethpaña.

In homage to spring, we've selected wines from the fluid category of "aromatic grapes". Muscat and Gewurztraminer are common suspects but there are many more that might surprise you. Join us and learn more about aromatic grapes and what makes their wines smell and taste so good. Terpenes, thiols, norisoprenoids and more are on the menu tonight!

Wines We Like

Fri, Apr 19 @ 3:30PM - 7:30PM / $30

Here at the shop we're constantly tasting wines so when something catches our eye we're really excited about it. Sometimes it can be hard to squeeze in one of these wines into a themed tasting. So we decided to compile all the wines we're excited about - be it great quality to price, amazing story, awesome taste, or uncommon wines we don't regularly run into much less stock. Join us to geek out over our personal shop favorites.

Island Wines

Fri, Apr 26 @ 3:30PM - 7:30PM / $30

Islands are fascinating places with unique conditions - sometimes places of intense resource scarcity or Eden-like abundance. Isolation another is a huge contributor to the way life and culture develops on islands and by extension the wines. Join us as we taste wines from islands - far off places that were never affected by phylloxera to islands in the Mediterrenean with multiple converging cultures.

Blinds

Fri, May 3 @ 3:30PM - 7:30PM / $25

There's an interesting phenomenon that happens to animals that live in caves. Over many millenia, they lose their eyesight and become completely adapted to live in the dark; there's salamanders, fish, and spiders all blind but with heightened senses of touch, smell, and taste. Come channel these troglodytic denizens and see if you can get every wine in our blind flight correct!

Barolo

Fri, May 10 @ 3:30PM - 7:30PM / $30

Home to the beguiling Nebbiolo grape, Barolo became a DOCG in the 1980s. While enjoying a long history of winemaking, the region went through multiple paradigm shifts and struggles as each generation sought to implement winemaking innovations. It took a new generation of ragtag vintners nicknamed the "Barolo Boys" and the rise of the slow food movement for the world to fully see the beauty of Barolo. Join us as we taste Barolo and maybe you'll agree with us that the world is simply just tar and roses.

Sherry

Fri, May 17 @ 3:30PM - 7:30PM / $30

Over 3000 years of history shaped winemaking culture in Jerez. Even while under Moorish rule in 711, wine was still heavily produced in the area. It was Britain's fondness for "Sherish" wines that helped skyrocket its production and popularity worldwide. Now Jerez produces a variety of styles like Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Fino, and PX. Join us as we explore what the Sherry Universe has to offer.
