Elizia Carignane "Venturi Vineyard" Mendocino 2014

"Venturi," a 65 year old, dry farmed, head pruned Carignane vines in an old riverbed outside of Ukiah. Whole cluster, foot trodden, 6 week maceration/fermentation. Made with a light touch. Modest alcohol, no new oak: "old style." Wild raspberries, orange peel, cocoa, Rhone-like musk, wild thyme and tarragon, black pepper. Most definitely a "food wine." 200 cases made.
