35% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 15% Bourboulenc, 15% Roussanne, 3% Piquepoul, 2% Picardin: yep, that’s all of the 6 white varieties allowed in Chateauneuf. The warmth of the Rhone is reflected in the ripe stone fruit aromas, with an extra creaminess from the small amount of oak used. The different varieties add layers of complexity: almonds from Grenache, white pepper from Piquepoul, and herbal tea from Roussanne, all held together by the acidity of Clairette.
