Domaine Pique-Baisse "Au Coeur du Ventabren" Cotes du Rhone Villages-Roaix 2016

From the Côtes du Rhône village, Roaix, which lies just outside Rasteau. Unusually, it’s 100% Syrah – more weight and fruit than a counterpart from the northern Rhône, but very balanced. The nose is invitingly meaty, smoky, perfumed, and herbal with aromas of black pepper, blackberry, and plum. The mouthfeel on the palate is round and grainy with great grip and a long finish. Great expression of Syrah.
