70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah. Lirac lies across the river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, producing similar Rhône blends at a fraction of the price. An immediately engaging nose of roses, garrigue, licorice, raspberry, and cherries goes into a palate that has attractive, gripping tannins lifted by fresh acidity. There’s a balance between delicacy and fullness that makes this wine especially appealing.
