Domaine de Labarthe Gaillac 2010

60% Fer Servadou, 20% Syrah, 20% Duras. Gaillac is one of France’s historic wine-producing regions, going all the way back to the Gauls. It has plenty of obscure indigenous varieties, such as Fer (literally “iron”) and Duras. A pretty aromatic nose of roses, violets, and herbs, with gentle fruit aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and blackberries, held up with firm, slightly chewy tannins. 2010 at this price?!
