Domaine de l'Ecu Mephisto Cabernet Franc 2014

Domaine de l’Ecu are more famous for their terroir-driven Muscadets, but they also make some fabulous, distinctive wines under the Vin de France umbrella. This is Cabernet Franc from west Loire, no sulfur added, and aged in amphorae. The result is a fresh, earthy wine with intense red fruit, herbal, spice aromas, firm, tight tannins, and vibrant acidity. The label, by the way, is from a church stained-glass window.
