From the historic Chalone AVA, inland Monterey County. 1700 feet high, soils of limestone and granite. Whole cluster ferment, racked only at bottling, unfined/ unfiltered, minimal sulphur (natural winemaking 99.9%). Smoky nose leads to tart black cherries, black plums, violets, nutmeg, cinnamon stick. Surprisingly soft mouthfeel (given some time in the glass) for such high acidity.
