Irancy is right next to Chablis, but for the production of red rather than white wine. It’s mainly Pinot Noir, but, uniquely for Burgundy, the César grape is also allowed, adding tannins and color to the wine. This biodynamic producer uses 5% César here, resulting in a firm tannic structure and a rich texture. Lots of intense, concentrated aromas: roses, raspberries, strawberries, cocoa beans, and coffee. Pinot Noir with an edge.
